Family Favorites: Sharing Special Stories
First, print this page and take it home. Retell "The Dog and the Bone," "Tortoise and Eagle," or another fable you know to members of your family. Then ask them to share some of their favorite fables or folktales. Pick one of these and write down the main characters, the setting, the problem, the events, and the resolution. If the story has a lesson or moral, add it to your notes. Then use your notes to help you retell the story to your classmates. You may want to work together to organize a Storytellers' Circle and take turns sharing your stories. You may also want to write your story, draw some pictures to go with it, and put it in the classroom library.
