Put on Your Inventor's Cap:
Making a Plan for an Invention

First, print this page and take it home. Then think of some new inventions that could solve problems for your family. For example, you might think of a new kind of case or set of shelves that could store a lot of toys. That invention could solve the problem of toys all over the floor! Share your own ideas and ask family members for their ideas. Then choose one of the ideas. Make a plan for the invention. Write down what problem the invention solves or how it would make life better or easier. Write a description of the invention and how it works. Then draw a picture of the invention. Label its parts. Bring your plan to class to share with classmates. The class could display the plans on a Wall of Invention.
