Put on Your Inventor's Cap:
Making a Plan for an Invention
First, print this page and take it home. Then
think of some new inventions that could solve problems for your
family. For example, you might think of a new kind of case or
set of shelves that could store a lot of toys. That invention
could solve the problem of toys all over the floor! Share your
own ideas and ask family members for their ideas. Then choose
one of the ideas. Make a plan for the invention. Write down what
problem the invention solves or how it would make life better
or easier. Write a description of the invention and how it works.
Then draw a picture of the invention. Label its parts. Bring
your plan to class to share with classmates. The class could
display the plans on a Wall of Invention.
